A digital platform to explore South Africa's geospatial datasets, elevation models, aerial imagery, and more.
This CDNGI Geoportal prototype was developed for the University of Cape Town course Spatial Data Infrastructures (APG3039F).
It serves as a theoretical platform to explore and interact with South Africa’s geospatial datasets in a centralized and accessible way.
The spatial data was sourced from several publicly available services including the
Cape Town Open Data Portal for Aerial Imagery, DEMs, Landcover Maps, and Topological Maps via WMS.
Additional vector datasets such as Beacons, Farms, Lease Areas, and Allotments were accessed through the UCT Geomatics File Data Server.
The Interactive Map was created using QGIS Cloud with the additional Qgis2web plugin.
Use the navigation bar above to access aerial imagery, topographic maps, elevation data, and cadastral information.
